This button has been developed e.g. for the therapy of tracheostomised patients after long-term ventilation. Through its special design the sealing is very airtight and the patient is able to cough up the stimulus secretion, which always exists after removing the cannula, very fast. Even with strong coughing bouts the button is not dislocating.

With the adjustable neck flange the TRACOE button plus can be positioned optimal to the soft neck tissue.

To use this button, the patient needs to be able to breathe sufficiently and spontaneously with the closed button already. The button should not be used with patients who have no stable breathing or who breathe mainly through the stoma because of a high risk of crust formation.

If necessary, secretion can be easily removed from the trache by suctioning through the deplugged opening. An endoscopic evaluation of the glottis, e.g. during a swallow test, can be done easily through the button as well.

The TRACOE button plus keeps the stoma channel for an eventually necessary reinsertion of a tracheostomy tube open without doing a percutaneous tracheostomy again. The decision for a decannulation after a successful weaning can be made earlier and therefore the patient with his safe airway can be shifted faster to the intermediate care, rehabilitation or normal ward until the stoma will be closed permanently.
